Our Sanctuary will be located on an early Georgian Property set in the ancient Irish countryside, steeped in history, tradition and ancient Irish folklore.
The property includes 5 protected structures of architectural and historical significance.
Let me introduce you to our first one!
J.A.K. Dean, Gate Lodges of Leinster
A low single-storey structure below
an oversailing shallow hipped roof,
it’s main short whitewashed threebay
front of two high-level latticed
bipartite casement windows and
door to one side recessed behind an
archway, forming a rustic setting area.
Architect William Robertson based his rustic porch on plate 1 of Joseph Gandy’s Designs for Cottages, Cottage Farm & C.
Revd Daniel Augustus commented on a visit in 1819 as the gate lodge being “…very neat Porters lodge all be rosed…”
